A Concert for South Normanton Area Food Bank

What a wonderful evening we had on 21st September at the PostMill Centre together with the amazing Alfreton Male Voice Choir raising money for South Normanton Area Food bank.  The food bank has been running since 2013 and last year supported over 5,000 families.  Unfortunately, donations this year have not covered the cost of the demand on the service and support from the local community is greatly appreciated.

Both choirs treated the audience to great performances including choral classics and contemporary pieces.  There were toe tappers and ballads as well as some great solo items.  It would be difficult to mention a particular piece as they were all so well performed but perhaps we saved the best until last.  Our closing joint item, Bring Him Home from Les Miserables was directed by the birthday girl – Nicola Hunt and was a moving close to a great evening of song.

What a busy July we had – 2 fabulous concerts and a cheque presentation for almost £1,000 to a great charity.

Following a lovely evening where we shared the stage at Kirk Hallam School with the A Capella group Oakie Dokie – singers from the Major Oak Chorus, we were able to present Eadie’s Big 10 with a cheque for almost £1,000 at a recent rehearsal.  This was following by a joint concert with Mansfield Male Voice Choir and Radcliffe on Trent Male Voice Choir in Nottingham where one of the many highlight was the performance by the three choirs of “Bring him home” from Les Miserables.  Only a week later we were taking part in Ripley Music Festival where we provided a great evening of entertainment with music from around the world and from all eras.  There were some wonderful solos too and many highlights – if we had to choose one – it would be “Hey Big Spender” – Dame Shirley Bassey would have been envious.
