Sonara Singers is a friendly, all female, non auditioning choir based at South Normanton Derbyshire. We were formed over a cup of tea in 1936, making us the oldest female choir in the country.
We have remained a great choir to be a part of all this time, as we have a wonderful community spirit and we love the friendship of singing together. We invite anyone over the age of sixteen to come and sing and give us a try.

Every year we plan a variety of performances throughout the year which are led by our fantastic musical Director, Nicola Hunt. Nicki shares her amazing skills with great enthusiasm which makes rehearsals rewarding and fun for us all. Our concerts are often in support of charities and community events and we love singing with friends from other choirs too. We sing a wide variety of styles of music and always hope that our performances have something for everyone to enjoy.
Whilst it is not a requirement, something that we all also enjoy, is cake ! We have some wonderful bakers in our choir which means that most of our performances have delightful refreshments too.

Booking Sonara Singers for Concerts
Our concert fee will depend on various performance factors. You are welcome to come along and see us sing in a rehearsal. Our Musical Director will meet with you to discuss a programme and would be happy to suggest musical pieces that may suit your event/concert.
If you have a request for a piece of music or if you require another soloist or performer, we may be able to facilitate this for you.
